Call me old school, but summer should not be almost over. However, in the eyes of a child, this is the sad truth. The countdown has begun. School doors swing open in only two weeks! In Athens, GA, Labor Day is now only recognized as the end to wearing white, not the end of the carefree days of summer play.
Enjoy a last little trickle of summer fun as ACC Water Conservation Office shares one more taste of summer camp with you. Do you recognize any of the children from Thomas Lay Community Center & Park Summer Camp or Teens in Action in these photos? We visit Timothy Baptist Church later this week for our final 2013 summer camp activity. A big THANK YOU to all of the groups who invited us to share water activities with the campers. We had a splash!
Thomas Lay Community Center & Park Summer Camp, a neighborhood place for kids to spend their summer. We got to visit with over 80 enthusiastic and energetic campers!
Teens in Action, an ACC Leisure Services camp, offers teens a chance to go out and volunteer in the community. This great group of kids helped us to prepare a rain barrel, make goodies for the Athens Water Festival, and prepare Tootsie rolls for field trips to the water reclamation facilities.
Wishing all of our campers the best in the new school year! We will look for you on field trips or visits to your classroom. And remember, Conserve: WATER U waiting 4?
