Drip. Drip. Drip. Do you have leaks?

~Jackie Sherry, Water Conservation Graduate Assistant

Nominate your favorite non-profit organization to receive a water-saving retrofit during 2014 Fix a Leak Week.  Fix a Leak Week is an initiative to encourage Americans to check their plumbing fixtures and irrigation for leaks.

Last year’s winner, Action Ministries, received a WaterSense toilet, new kitchen faucet, and a new pre-rinse spray valve for their community kitchen.  This retrofit reduced their water usage and lowered their water bill.  The Athens Community Council on Aging was the 2012 Fix a Leak Week water-saving retrofit winner and has since cut their water use in half!

The winner is chosen based on their water saving potential and capacity for public education.  Runner-ups will receive a free water efficiency assessment.

The DEADLINE for nominations is February 14, 2014.  Nominate your favorite non-profit today!

The Athens-Clarke County Water Conservation Office  partners with the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) WaterSense Program for Fix a Leak Week.  On average, the American home wastes more than 11,000 gallons of water every year due to running toilets, dripping faucets, and other household leaks!
