My leaky faucet is no big deal!

This week’s blog is by Marilyn Hall, Water Conservation Coordinator for Athens-Clarke County Georgia

So, what is the big deal?  What harm does that dripping faucet and leaky toilet cause?  (Other than being very annoying.)  It may not seem like a big deal, but household leaks can waste more than 1 trillion gallons annually nationwide.  If you are wondering how your little drippy faucet contributes to the waste, think about this:   If it is dripping one drop per second it wastes about 260 gallons a month and 3,200 gallons a year!  3,200 gallons is the equivalent of nearly 60 rain barrels!

This is what 60 rain barrels looks like.

That is a lot of rain barrels!  Get the point?  Go fix your leaks.  If you need help, go to a DIY Workshop.  See www.thinkatthesink.com for details.

Did you like those Rain Barrels?  They are all from Roll Out the Barrels.  This year Roll Out the Barrels is on May 16, 2014.  Come see what our artists think of next!  www.rolloutthebarrels.org
